*WASHINGTONIAN MAGAZINE*
I am delighted to be featured in the article "Making Love Last" in the February 2010 Washingtonian magazine (p. 23).
Some comments I made: "A lot of people think that being angry at their spouse
and yelling at them is expressing how they feel. I help them learn how to pay attention to what they're
feeling and how to voice their feelings-- not to voice their anger but the emotion under the anger in a constructive way."....."People think if there's an affair there's got to be a divorce. A lot of people have a better marriage after an affair." To those who are thinking of getting married, I suggest "Slow down. Get to know each other. And talk about the difficult stuff that you don't want to talk about.
Talk about it gently, carefully, but get it out there."
*UPCOMING WORKSHOPS AND PRESENTATIONS*
I will be presenting a workshop, Patterns of Infidelity and Their Treatment in Marriage Counseling,

Emily also did an interview on infidelity in August 2008 for TV Globo in Brazil.
The program aired on Monday in Brazil and now it's on the internet -- in Portuguese.
A little bit about TV Globo from the producer, Laura Machado: TV Globo is the largest
broadcaster in South America. Our network newscasts have around 30 million viewers in Brazil
, where Globo is a free TV. TV Globo also has an international channel broadcast to 46
countries, including the US. We have international news bureaus in NY, San Francisco,
Jerusalem, London, Paris, Rome, Beijing and Buenos Aires. The network
website is: http://www.redeglobo.com.br The story will be broadcast in Espaço
Aberto: Ciência e Tecnologia (Open Space - Science and Technology), a weekly
show from GloboNews, the 24-hour News channel of TV Globo.
When the Edwards affair broke in August 2008, I did an on-line discussion for Washingtonpost.com regarding
politics and infidelity. I was also asked to comment by the Associated Press and others about Tiger Woods' situation.
Bottom line: Continual success seems to breed a sense of invincibility.
At the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts conference in June 2008
in Vancouver, BC, Emily presented "The Con Game: How to Avoid Being Had." This was also
about recognizing personality disorders, the changes that need to be made in our legal
and mental health systems to hold the personality disordered parent accountable, and
formulating parenting arrangements that will work in this situation. Isolina Ricci,
author of Mom's House, Dad's house and Mom's House, Dad's House for Kids, and Lynelle
Yingling, a parenting coordinator, joined Emily in this presentation.
My article, “The Affair as a Catalyst for Change,” was published in
Infidelity: A Practitioner’s Guide to Working with Couples in Crisis, in 2007.

“My Husband’s Affair Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me”; and Ben and Ann Wilson,
counselors at their church in Colorado share their painful recovery after unfaithfulness
brought them to the brink of divorce. Also featured is an interview with Peggy Vaughan,
